This lecture encompasses the spiritual aspects of pirts and pirts as the space for spiritual practice. Dr. Batņa will also briefly discuss the meaning of spiritual practice and its benefits, and seven types of spiritual practice. The lecture will offer a glimpse of available historical and folklore sources and explore the extent to which Latvians have engaged in intentional, organised spiritual practices. It will also consider pirts as a spiritual practice and Pirts Master as the practitioner, work with awareness expansion and the two realms of reality.

Juris Batņa M.D. is an esteemed Pirts Master, medical doctor, psychotherapist, director of “Lielzemenes” School of Pirts, chairman of “Lauku Pirtnieki” society and author of books “A nation that invites God into pirts”, “Pirtīža” and many publications.
“Lielzemenes” School of Pirts is one of the biggest pirts schools in Latvia. The school focuses on Latvian pirts traditions, training family-oriented pirts practitioners and hosting a variety of educational events, seminars, festivities and more.
